Happy Mother's Day to My Mom

Mom Playing the Dulcimer

Memories of my childhood take me back to an old country road.

Down by a stream searching for tadpoles.

In the distance I hear the sound of the dinner bell ringing.

My mom's way of getting me back home as I was usually out of sight.

On the way I could find Bluebell flowers growing wild to take home to her.

I remember one day I got active in digging up a wagon load of those Bluebells to replant close to the house.

To my surprise years later when I had returned home for a visit the hill where I planted that wagonload of Bluebells was now covered with many of them.

Now I am grown and moved quite away from my parents and boyhood days, but in my heart I still hear that old dinner bell ringing in the distance.

It gives me a secure feeling that home isn't that far away and waiting there is a loving mother with loving arms.

Mother You filled my days with rainbow lights,
fairytales and sweet dream nights,
A kiss to wipe away my tears,
A Loving heart to ease my fears.
You gave the gift of life to me,
And then in love, you set me free.
I thank you for your tender care,
for deep warm hugs and being there.
I hope that when you think of me,
A part of you, you'll always see.
